The race for number one

What you don't expect from a sophomore running in her first season of a sport is consistency, but that is what earned Casa Grande's Ashley Moffett this years honor. Moffett did not lose to another Empire runner during the last 2 months of the season winning both the NCS division III title and the Sonoma County League finals. She ran in 14 CIF races during the season and also picked up a win at her division II Mt Sac race by 47 seconds. She was also undefeated in all four of her SCL meets before the finals. Ashley Moffett Two other runners this year, Lauren Kraus and Julie Nacouzi, had some awsome races but missed portions of the season to keep them from being picked by the local coaches as the Runner of the Year. Kraus defeated Moffett in two early invites and had fast times at NCS & State but missed her league finals due to injury. Lauren Kraus Nacouzi shocked many in the Nation with a 3rd at Nationals and winning Footlocker West but only competed in two early season CIF meets all season. Julie Nacouzi
